<T>am having a problem in 3D view mode, all my elements are not showing up correctly when i have multiple materials on an item. for example i am taking a slab and have the sides in one material and the top with a different material, although in the element settings it will show the different materials, in 3D mode it only shows the one material allover the slab. if i open up a different archicad file this doesn't happen - is there any way to fix this? i have too many worksheets in this file to merge it all to a different file</T>

It is possible that some of the Slab edges have a custom Surface setting. In the 3D Window select the Slab, click and hold on one of the edges until the Pet Palette appears, select the upper right option (Custom Edge Settings) and confirm that the correct Surface is being applied to that edge.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
Hi David, am working on ArchiCAD 16 on an iMac with OS X 10.6.8
This is actually happening with every element, be it a wall, roof, slab - any element that can have different materials on it's sides, tops and bottom, the program is just picking one material and showing it on every surface of the element

Could it be renovation filter overrides?

For example you slab is tagged as 'Existing'.
Your current renovation filter has 'Existing' elements set to 'Override' and the 'Override Styles' for existing elements has a 'Material' override.
michelle k:

One other possibility is that Mark Up items are being colored. Try Model View Options > Options for Construction Elements > Mark-up options: Show Mark-Up items. I would recheck the Renovation Filter Options > Renovation Override Styles to see if the Surface is being overridden, as that is the more likely culprit.
