Design alterations

I am documenting a house and want to change some cavity sliding doors into hinged doors. It causes changes to door opening sizes, frames and jambs, architraves, door hardware and furniture. I want to have access to the original sliding door option because my client might want to stick with these.

The changes involve many small fiddly changes and I don't see how this can be done without destroying the original sliding door scheme. So, I've created a new version of the PLN file for the changes.
It is these little fiddly things that make CAD systems tedious and its many smarts such as clever junctions, etc., unworkable. Yet much documentation involves exactly this and Archicad is probably less useable than Autocad.

Does anyone have other ideas?

I am not sure that I would go to the trouble of creating a whole new second file.

I would either drag a copy of the door (and wall) to another location or even another 'special' storey so it is still within the original job file or I would select in plan and save as a 'Module' (.MOD) file that can be merged back in at a later time if necessary.
A MOD file will only contain what was selected when saved so it is a bit like copying and pasting from another job without having to open that job and select the bits you want.

There is a sneaky little way to do exactly this!
Create a new renovation filter, call it say "sliding doors" then
select the sliding doors in you model and go to the settings.
In Tags and Categories, you can then got to the Reno options
and change the Show On Renovation Filter from All Relevant Filters to
our new sliding doors filter!
They are then still part of you model but hidden within that filter!

Kees, do you mean you want all the specific parameters you set in the swing door to be matched by the sliding door?

I did think of doing it with as a reno but even with that, I have found it very tedious to incorporate all of the fiddly little changes without a lot of time and effort.

David, good to hear from you. No it is more complicated than that. There are many small changes involved in changing sliding to hinged doors. These go beyond transferring parameters.

Yes changing parameters doesn't work (I tried it) not enough common parameters, you catch some though....
