<T>I have only just received my Archicad 21 package, and was looking forward to investigating the stair tool. I confess I have not read all the documentation, but is this correct that a simple straight stair with a landing has a weird non-structural junction between the lower flight and the landing?

Is there a basic setting that I have missed?</T>

Yes, there is.

Select the Stair, go to the Settings Dialog, in the left side tree structure select Monolithic - Flight, and on the right, you will find the Support Endings and Connections panel. You will find 5 light gray circled areas on the image, and you can click any of them and define a Connection type for it. You will probably need to modify the Flight-Landing Connection type and the Landing-Flight Connection type.

Thank you Laszlo! I was obviously in too much of a hurry and did not see that panel below the others - now all is well.
