it might help to see some pictures ? Also, you may want to save the final object as a morph and smooth it that way ? you can send me the file if you like and I will see what I can do with it. or upload it in a .zip file. download link ? Here is a link to a KLM Theodolite file to KMZ file converter that might be of some use. ? Archicad can open a .kmz (Google Earth File) - theoretically 🙂 KML to KMZ Converter Online - MyGeodata Cloud

smooth mesh?

Hello,

I am new to Archicad. I have a mesh that has been generated from theodolite data and is quite bumpy (even when edges are set to smooth not ridged ) due to erroneous points from the raw data.

Anyone know a way to smooth out the mesh? e.g. reduce number of polygons that make up its surface/ reduce number of nodes/points. or is there a specific tool for this like there is on other cad programs.

all the best,

Jago

Hi Steve,

Thanks for commenting! I'll attach a link to a .zip of the Archicad file and you have a bash at it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NH4cR8T69joGxkAI8y2RQcX7UdJCusqy/view?usp=sharing

Oh and thanks for the kml tokmz converter!

all the best,

jago

sorry it took so long to get back to you about this. I was traveling and didn't take my computer with me. It looks fine to me.

If there are some anomalies you can edit the nodes graphically in 3D to a more appropriate location or height. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbQ-gZc0PMc ??
