SCSCadMan,
It appears from your photo that, in the plan view, all of the window
elements are straight not curved.
In the 3D view, all window elements are straight.
The only element that is curved is the sub-sill.

Are these statements correct ?

Is this sub-sill element part of the window object ?

If the above statements are true then in what way does
"Archicad automatically makes a window curved
when it's inserted into a curved wall" ?

Thank you,

<T>I need to make a full arch window that is 12" wide by 48" tall. It's built into a wall with a 3'-0" radius. The building itself is a full circle with the 3'-0" radius. I need the window's mullions to be at 45deg and 135deg, and the window has 2" trim all the way around it. Anyway to accomplish all this?

I made a custom window with the grids, but a custom window doesn't provide the trim needed. The trim itself has to curve in elevation and plan - impossible in archicad?

Thanks in advance for any tips.</T>

How did you make your "custom" window ?
Does your "custom" window have an arch-head frame
and is also curved in plan ?
Thank you,
I made the window in plan, then saved is as a GDL window. When a window is inserted into a curved wall, Archicad curves the window for you. Unfortunately, this method doesn't automatically include a trim option with the window.

If you made the frame, sash, muntons, and glass in the 2D window
(using slabs I assume), then why can't you make the trim the same way ?
Please forgive my puzzlement.
Archicad automatically makes a window curved when it's inserted into a curved wall. Archicad DOES NOT automatically curve a GDL trim object. In archicad itself without GDL, it seems to be impossible to make an object that curves in plan and elevation at the same time!

Thus making trim go around the arch of the window (curved in elevation) and following the curve of the wall (curved in plan) seems to be impossible in Archicad.

I am sorry that I can't help you with your issue,
but perhaps you could help me.
You say:
"Archicad automatically makes a window curved when it's inserted into a curved wall"
I am unable to make this happen.
If I make a curved wall in the plan, select a casement window, and
insert it into the curved wall, the frame, sash, and glass remain straight.
I see no setting that makes the window follow the curve of the wall.
How do you make this happen ?
Thank you,
I'm attaching a photo (hopefully, it will show up) that shows what elements appear curved. Most times in construction, a series of small-width straight windows are used in a curved wall instead of using curved windows.

I'm not so sure that ArchiCAD automatically curves anything...I might be wrong though. I would think that all of the prisms that make up the window and its trim components would need to be scripted using "BPRISM_"
Dan,
I agree, they have to be BPRISMS with a radius derived from R_.
But SCSCadMan says quote :
"Archicad automatically makes a window curved when it's inserted into a curved wall"
As far as I can tell this is not true and if you need a curved window
you have to use GDL to make it.
I know it's hard to tell from the photo, but the 3D view shows all the exterior trim to be curved, not straight i.e. it's wrapping around the curved wall. In plan view, if everything was straight, the right and left side would show up straight, but they follow the curve of the wall as if a line had been drawn from the center of the circle wall to a point perpendicular to the wall. The inner contents of the window do stay straight. Here again, in reality, that's the way most windows work - a series of straight windows around a curved wall.

BTW, I asked for help on an issue, not criticism. If you're NOT going to give me help on this topic, please be courteous and stop responding to my posts.
