<R>I'm not sure what exactly has happened here. I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything, but I must have done something.changed some setting by mistake, because all of my white pens show up grey. I'm using Archicad 12, Student Education version on Windows XP. I've attached a screen shot. As you can see my pen set says the fill is white, but like the brick workabove, the highlighted concrete fill is showing up with a grey background. Anyone know whats happened here?

I was going to say check you haven't accidentally turned on Uniform Pen overrides in the Section tool but just noticed there are some green pens at the edge of the screenshot so that can't be it (assuming this is a pure model cut, no manual lines)

and the correct answer is:

Automatic Pen Color Visibility Adjustment

go to <S></S>Options > Work Environment > More Options<E></E> and make sure it is unchecked (second from the top). This setting basically temporarily overrides any pens that would not be visible due to the screen background color (so white on white or black on black)

I find it best to not use a pure white background (or black).
I set mine to a pale green (like the old manual drawing boards for those that remember them).
That way I can see all pen colours including white.
Depending on the pen colours you use you can to adjust the background colour to suit what works for you.

No, I don't think so.

You can only change Work Environment settings by going into the WE and changing them yourself, or applying a different WE.

I think the default WEs have this option to automatically adjust pen colour set as active.
