Vaults intersection

Hi! I am trying to create a cross vault with the shell tool, but the intersection lines between vaults is not straight. Sometimes lines are good, but then small square apperas in the middle. Any suggestions?

The problem with shell curved roof is that the segmentation that attempts to create the half circle is not symmetrical. So instead of having a node at the top, you are stuck with having part of a segment there.

Have you tried the vault / dome objects in the library?

You could also use a complex profile wall or drawing quarter segments for the shell, that you mirror and hope the segmentation is identical.

The segmentation for curved shells is quite 'rough' / 'coarse' as well, not very detailed.

You could also use the morph tool, but that's kind of hard to manipulate after you've drawn your shape.

Vault from library has flat surface above the vault, so don't want to use them. But trick with modeling it with quarter segments is quite good. Thanks!

In the default library there are two objects, Cross Vault and Cross Vaults. The singular has a flat top, whilst the plural does not.

I am pretty sure this is the case even back to v18.

ps. Some objects / issues / etc. are version specific / limited, so I would advise that you add some information to your profiles signature regarding which version you are using, and maybe about the computer you are using it on.

I think Groined Vault (if I translated it right) with symmetrical side vaults would give you the vault like in your picture. There is no resolution adjustment for it though. Seems like it is at resol=36, as in gdl, so It's quite rough too. Custom profile wall built vault with SEOs would be great otherwise, but the SEOs doesn't suit in this case very well (see pic.). One would need to cut the profiles with external half tubes, I think it would do it.
