Thanks for the inputs. Yes, i was lining up to do that, a "fake slab". The advantage in Revit is the sketch mode. You can, in a second, copy paste shape (between pads), so sides of pads are perfectly aligned. And the selection tool (pick tool) is far more useful in selecting a particular line than the magic wand... This kind of round building isn't so simple on Archicad, mainly due to the absence of sketch mode for creating slabs/ beams etc. Anyway, dwg's have been released last night and we will figure out a way to fix these small issues. The best will be to create a layer with only 2d shapes (representing the structure etc) and when creating a new element, hide all layers but the 2d shape layer and use magic wand. And offset of an inch to avoid topo to pass through, as you suggested. Long way around 🙂

Thanks!

Hello,

I am having a terrible time trying to stamp the building on site. Since the circles aren't exactly round, it looks like upward extrusion is having problem. Is there an option similar to building pad/ sketch mode on Archicad? Round buildings are really tough, how to perfectly match beams, slab etc? in revit the sketch mode allows copy paste from element to element, allowing to have the exact same shape in a second.

What is the work around in Archicad?

Thanking you

Instead of using the actual concrete slabs in the SEO for the upward extrusion, you could model a separate 'pad' slab below the concrete slabs to use in the SEO (say a 2mm thick slab so that it is invisible in section) and offset the edges in plan by a few mm so that the upward cut will cover any facets or missing sections between slabs/walls.

In a way this is how revit building pads work - as a separate element to the construction elements.

No worries - Also I just remembered that the Opening tool works on site meshes, and now that Openings can be any polygonal shape (as of AC25) this might be a easier option than the Slab as pad idea, worth a try! Save as a Favourite 'Building Pad' once setup for future use.
