I would also like to do as per the question above, I'm interested to hear from anyone who has a method for making a hole in a column

<R>I would like to know if any of you use the Opening tool to model and schedule drill holes on steel structures.
It seems much more straight forward and versatile than regular beam holes.
I can see that Openings can be associated to Beams, but not with Columns, which is frustrating.
I also would like to know if "Opening Holes" could be scheduled sorted by associated Beam/Column?
Or perhaps there another better workflow.
Cheers,</R>

Can you post an image of what exactly you are trying to achieve? I would say that as a general rule, you could use multi-segment Columns to achieve holes in Columns (mostly rectangular holes, approximating non-rectangular holes would require a lot more work).
