topic AC10 can't find the Plotware Folder in Modeling

I have AC10 (build 943 macintel beta version on a MacBook Pro 2.0GHz running 1.5G or RAM) and AC10 can't find the Plotware Folder, even as it was exactly where the auto-installer (standard install, not customized by me in any way). I've searched the Wiki and this site - no references to this issue, so here goes...

Specifically:
When i do the Plot Set-up command, i get a message to "move the Plotware folder to either the same folder as AC10 (where it was installed automatically to begin with), or into the Graphisoft folder within the System folder, then restart AC10." There is no Graphisoft folder within the 10.4.7 System Folder, only in the old version of OS-X. I cannot plot because AC10 can't find the drivers. I've tried moving the Plotware folder all over the place and restart AC10, even move this folder all around and then restarting the machine, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the entire application and then restarting the machine, all to no avail. This is a huge problem.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

<T>The Beta of the OSX universal release is running fast and stable on a Macbook with 512 mb ram. I would say it is almost equal to the iMac G5 with 1.5 gb ram!

The one thing that puzzles me about the beta is that it seems to have a totally different menu structure and does not seem to have a measure tool. It also did not seem to ship with templates or the default icon strip at the top. I don't know if it is because it is a work in progress or if I a missing something in my installation.

I think it is ready as far as speed and stability go!</T>

I too am finding it very fast on my MacBook Pro.

BTW: It is not a universal binary. It is a separate Intel native version which will not run on PPC.
I haven't seen any major differences in the default work environments. You might want to check to see which one you have loaded. Of course, you can always change it to your heart's delight.

here's some feedback:

don't try opening an AC10 intel-saved file (10.000 m /943) with the PPC version of AC10 if you value your entire layout book structure and master settings.
it's a template file i've been spending (a lot of) time on recently. i haven't defined the views yet - just the standard layout hierarchy - it has over 100 layouts in it. maybe there's a 'i-can't-handle-anymore' cut off?

i've tried saving and saving as..., opening on my own computer running AC10PPC in rosetta and on the rest of the office machines running AC10PPC natively.

i think this is a very similar bug to james', but luckily nowhere near as nasty in the severity stakes . . . more so because it's not a file that's in 'production' than anything else . . .
Yikes! I guess it's good that my primary clients are on Windows. I'm having no problems so far, and the pesky library problem in AC9 is gone.

This is frightening so I saved a 48mb pln w/ 80 layouts sheets to my MacBook and re-opened on my G5. No loss of data, sheets or master settings. I did the same to the corresponding 80mb pln w/ views linked to the layouts; again, no loss of view sets or data. This project was converted from AC9 (80mb pln w/ 250mb lbk), so as a precautionary step, we converted the plans & view sets to one pln (reduced from 52mb to 12mb) & the plotmaker lbk to a separate pln (250mb down to 48mb)

As for speed, the new native version on my MacBook is definitely speedier than w/ the rosetta translator, but slightly slower in generating elevations/3D (tip: avoid seo'd columns) than my G5.

maybe someone could try my file? i've stripped it out of all information except for master settings and the layout/sheet organisation structure. it's been re-saved and tested again here with the same result: if you open it with the intel (10.0.0 RC1 INT (943)) build the layout structure and master settings are retained, if you open it with any PPC (10.0.0 v1 INT (817)) build everything is lost . . .

it's too big to attach here (571Kb) so anyone willing to give it a whirl may find it in my dotmac public folder (Finder: Go>iDisk>Other User's Public Folder... member name: "archiben", password: "archicad") . . . below is what the layout book hierarchy <S></S>should<E></E> begin to look like.

i'd appreciate anyone being able to either confirm whether or not it happens in their setup. i can at least then start looking for the problem in the right places . . . cheers!
Hi Ben
all the Masters are A1 and blank
I only have PPC version of the software and running on G5
Seems to be a bug rather than a corrupt file.

It opens fine on my Mactel machine - hierarchy is intact. My PowerBook has been handed on to my partner so I can't easily test that, but there seems to be plenty of confirmation by others. I'll try it in WinXP when I get to work.

I guess this is why they are calling it a public beta.

Ben, Here's what I did with your file:
1. Open/close on MacBook - view map files/subfiles intact
2. Open above file on G5 - same results as others above.

3A. Close file on G5 without saving, re-open on MacBook - original view map folders/subfolders intact as original.

3B. Save on G5, close, re-open on MacBook - view map is now gone, layout book subfolders gone.

I have repeated this process again with a project originating in AC10 and the view map & layouts remains intact, so this is not a bug for me.

Opening in WinXP on my MacBook Pro - hierarchy is now gone.

Strange stuff, this. I am not having any problems of this sort with any file; whether converted from AC9 or started new. But I have no PPC machines in the mix.

ok. i opened the file with the PPC version, lost my layout hierarchies, etc... james, i hadn't realised that my views had gone too because i hadn't 'created' any - but i realise now that placing project indexes meant some views had been automatically generated - they're also missing. maybe this <S></S>is<E></E> the same bug?!

so: i faithfully recreated my layout hierarchy <S></S>from the PPC version of archicad<E></E>, saved and opened with the mactel. all OK. saved with the mactel and re-opened with the PPC version. all OK. deep. breath.

i have a feeling that the bug is the same, or extremely similar, to james': not caused by the intel<>PPC translation, but by some other trigger. the fact that it opens OK in the intel version probably means that it's a file format bug that they've already got nailed in the intel build . . ? doesn't bode well for multi PPC/intel platform offices if it should happen before the first PPC patch comes out . . .

please can we have some feedback on this, graphisoft?!
