Garage door slab location - North America

Am I missing something about the way garage door slabs are shown? I can't figure out how to move the garage door slab to show correctly ie. to the inside face of the garage, sealed to the frame. Can someone please shed some light on what I am missing?

By "door slab" I assume you mean the door panel.

I believe what you are asking is can the slab at the leading exterior edge drop, for instance 1/2"-3/4" so when the garage door is in the closed position, it resides on the recessed slab instead of the garage floor slab creating a water stop.

If that is what you mean, the way I would handle it, if I needed to model that, is I would build the garage slab with the roof tool or mesh tool, so the slab can have desired slope toward the doors. Then between the garage door jambs and the door, I would use solid operations tool to "cut out" the recesses to receive the garage door seal.

What do you mean by slab?

This is version 22 but I don't think much has changed.

Seems you can't set a reveal offset - all you can choose is to wall face or wall core.

Unless the USA door objects are different.

You want the frame on the outside, but the door to open internally?

Usually the frame would be inside the opening or behind the opening?

What type of garage door are you trying to model?

Yes, yes and just about every some 3000 garage doors I have

This is how Softplan shows it...I could tweak it to extend the garage door another 1½" to each side which would be even more correct as the door seals up against the back of the jamb.

Maybe the USA objects are different to the AUS library?

Or maybe we are talking about 2 different doors.

To me an overhead door is made from 4 or 5 horizontal panels and it slide open on a curved track.

Frame sits behind the wall.

This is as it is placed by default - but it has no option for a frame inside the opening - you would have to model that separately.

The door you have modelled looks like it is one solid panel, and I would call this a tilt door.

As it lifts up, the bottom pushes forward and the top backward.

The door sits inside the frame because it has to come forward.

I think I have been arguing that you are correct all along - and seems there is no way to get a frame for the door and have the garage door closing up against the interior face of said frame. I will just have to get along with it as it is I sense. Thank you for fighting through this miscommunication with me.

If you are happy with that overhead door (and you have it in the USA library), just add an empty rectangular window opening with an external casing.
