MEP Designer? Modeler? Newbie at using this

I'm using ArchiCAD 28 Technology preview and the first occasion has arisen where I would like to use the MEP tools. There is no separate MEP work environment that I can use. Is there supposed to be a separate WE? What is the best way to learn the workflow and functionality for a MEP Newbie?

That is correct. I do not see that Work Environment.

That is strange because it is a default WE and is locked so it can not be deleted.

Can you show your WE settings?

Interesting.

I am assuming you are on a Mac?

Intel or Silicon? - is that an option with 28?

Maybe there is an issue with the default installation for Mac if that is the case - I have no way to check.

But something you can do regardless.

Press the 'Import' button and browse to where the program is installed (for me it is on my D-drive).

Browse to that program folder and OK.

You should now see a list of available WEs.

Choose the MEP one and import it.

If you don't see it there then I would say it is an error in the installation files.

Somebody else with a Mac version would have to confirm.

I found the location that I would expect it to be located at, but the WE is not there. See the screen shot. I am on an Intel Mac.

Yep, that is where it should be.

I would say it is an error in the Intel Mac installation files.

Someone else running that version would have to confirm.

Not sure if this will work, but I have exported it from my Windows version.

Hi Barry,

That seems to have worked. Now there is an MEP work environment and when I select it the MEP tools show up. (Woohoo!) Is there a good tutorial on the tools? For example, I don't see a way to change the slope of a pipe.

I don't use MEP so can't really advise on that.

The way the MEP system works in 27 was changed quite a bit (and not for the better reading some posts).

I think how the slope of the pipes is set is one of those changes.

I‘m sorry for not having a newer tutorial. It is from Graphisoft but it is in German. As Barry told yet : In actual version there are some modifications in usability. But I think you can deal with it.

Has there ben any updates related to this, i'm having the same issue where I just got ready to do the MEP map for my model and the environment is missing in AC28. I'm also on an intel MacBook Pro.

I am not a Mac user so I can't confirm if it is just not there on the mac version.

As it comes with the initial install of Archicad, even if Graphisoft fix that it will not help you unless you then re-install.

Just unzip the one I have attached in previous post and import that WE.

Thanks for the assist this appears to be working and the tables have come along with this environment!! This was an oversight on GS side, does not make for a happy customer, but im glad the forum was here to give an assist.
