Creating Openings from selection does not seem to work?

Guys,

I am trying to create an opening based off of a column through multiple slabs.

The column collides with all slabs. I see nothing happens when I click 'Create Opening' button at the bottom of the 'Create Opening' palette.

Not sure if I miss anything.

The column and the slabs are automatically trimming each other based on the building material strengths.

Therefore there is no intersection between the elements, so nothing to create the hole around..

Convert the column to a morph and try again.

Morphs to not automatically trim with other elements.

No need to do that! Just changing the layer intersection number already is enough! (given that the slabs and the column is on different layers)

Using the same command it will cut the openings now.

Moving the column to a different layer and assigning a different intersection number works too!

Yes, use a layer specifically for 'temporary' elements, or create a layer combination that has a different (or zero) layer intersection number for that column layer (maybe the combination can set all layers to zero).

Then you can temporarily switch to that layer combination to create the openings.

Then switch back to your real layer combination.
