Hi There,
I am just currently documenting a project and wanted to get help/advice in the best way to create appropriate junctions between walls and slabs.

I know that both complex profiles and priority connections can help here.

See attached screen shots, and basically I want the outer (masonry) skin to set down into the concrete slab in both situations.
Note: I have used composites for both the walls and slabs

Please advise on the most efficient method to model and document these connections.

Using: ArchiCAD 17 on OS X 10.9.1

All you have to do is adjust the priority of you building components, until they intersect as you wish. If you intersections aren't complex ( as in they don't contain many different building materials and are mostly parallel ), you don't have to use Complex Profile.

It seems that you're working on details, well, there's a benefit about the detail window: the lines and fills are editable, meaning they are independent of the actual model. Any modification you make to them not affect the actual model, and vice versa.

If you have any specific questions please post back.

Hi Alex,

I am in the process of adjusting the priority connections, but am still getting used to them. I have listed them below so you can see what might be wrong.
I have also updated the earlier image with the masonry wall composite now intersecting the concrete slab composite.

So here, I want the inner masonry skin (BM-brickwork clay) to disappear behind the slab (BM-structural concrete), creating a step-down in the concrete slab for the outside skin. And, the slab finishes (BM-air space fixing) and (BM-Carpet) to stop when they meet the inside finish of the wall (BM-cement render).

I'm not sure though that priority connections will resolve the outer masonry skin step-down, because if I change the priority of the BM-brickwork clay, both skins might disappear if you know what I mean.

For detailed description of the building materials involved see below:

Cavity Wall
- Brickwork Clay - 700
- Air Space Cavity - 702
- Cement Render - 500

Slab
- Concrete Structural - 932
- Carpet - 683
- Air Space Fixing - 620

Firstly I am assuming you have the 'Legacy Mode' turned off if this is a version 16 or previous file opened in 17 (or based on an old version template).
PBC won't work if legacy mode is on.

Also you will need 2 BMs for you clay brick - one for the inside leaf and one for the outside leaf if you want them to cut the slab differently.
movens:

Also, you need to select the wall and slab, then use the Adjust Elements to Slabs... command to create the connection.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
Another question has come up around using the priority connections.

The line weights are inaccurate or affected as can be seen in the attached screen shot. The thick outline of the concrete slab and footing is broken at the connection of the wall.

Is there a way of continuing the thick outline as it should be?

Thanks
