Curved walls and floor slabs not meeting

Hello,

I'm wondering if there is a better way to join these elements to be viewed seamlessly - the floor slab seems to come through in small rectangles, is there a way to avoid this?

I've used a magic wand when drawing the slab to ensure it matches the curve of the wall. The reason the floor slab isn't doing the same on the first floor is that I've offset the floor slab to the internal face of the external wall.

Any assistance would be great!

You have to make sure that reference lines of both wall and slab are on the same position.

If they are with different radius, this will happen.

Hi @FLA-JM

You could try to offset the slab boundary line slightly inward into the wall so the finish covering (Ex: 2cm) can continue vertically.

Seems you solved it yourself on the first floor.

Does the ground floor slab need to extend to the outside of the wall?

Model it as it is built.

There have been many posts about this over the years.

There is no such thing as a true curved surface in Archicad.

They are all segmented.

It is a matter of getting the segments to match.

Do a search for '+wall +slab +curve' (without the quotes) and you will see a few old posts on this subject.

Try this :

- No drawing slab with Magic wand;

- Drawing the slab with polygonal method and the edge slab must match with wall reference line

Just to add to Fra's solution:

The starting point and ending point of the curved Wall segment and the curved Slab segment should be at the same point on the Floor Plan. That way, their connection will be smooth in 3D.

Reason: Archicad models curved geometries by dividing them into segments. If the starting point and the ending point of both the Wall and the Slab are at the same point, that guarantees that their curve's segmentation will be exactly the same, resulting in a smooth connection in 3D.

Just puting it here since the Tip of the Month was in regards to this thread, the curve segmentation is also relevant to all other element intersections including Meshes and Roofs, though there is another intracacy with roofs regarding the pitch... Mismatched segmentation has created a lot of SEO artifacts... There was another thread regarding this where the solution was to segment one of two interfacing arcs so that it had nodes to match another, and hence segment the same.
