AC9 - Problems generating 3D

I am having problems generating the most basic 3D image of " a wall with a door in it" or " a wall with a window " in it.

I receive the following message:
Fill not found at line 260 of file wa_trim_us81.gsm".. and the message repeats several time looking for similar fills in different fill names and line numbers.
Explorer does not reveal the presence of any "..us81.gsm" files anywhere.
Also isn't "81.gsm" an indication that these are Version 8 items?

Any ideas what is going on here

you're working in archiCAD 9 with a door object that's trying to call an 8.1 library macro. and i suspect your 8.1 library isn't loaded so it can't find it . . . ?

Yes, I suspected it was looking for an 8.1 object. The question is why ?

This is a new drawing and I only have AC9 and AC9 library loaded and running.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that the AC9 library still contains some AC8.1 macros.

I’ve come across this a few times now as I help coworkers move projects up to 9. In some cases it was my fault because the fills in my new template, built by pasting in choice fills from other files, had non-consecutive ID numbers. In other cases it was caused by AC 9’s new fill categories which are assigned to every fill. Fills are not available for section setting for example if they aren’t included in the cut fill category. In either case objects, most often doors and windows in my experience, can’t find a fill with the ID number they were previously set to, thus the error messages. It takes a bit of work to track it all down.

This is a bit off topic but how can you adjust the ID numbers of fills?

Make sure you have a file, other than the one you want to fix, that has all the fills you need. This can just be a copy or an .aat exported with Attribute Manager (AM). Save a back-up of the offending file, then open AM and delete all the fills. You’ll be left with one, hopefully number one. Open the other file in AM, select all the fills save number one and Append. They will order themselves consecutively. Check the list as I’ve had the process skip a couple for unknown reasons. You can do the same with Lines and Materials. If the left-behind fill is not number one you may need to append in two groups. You can always cancel out of AM and try again if it doesn’t go well. Once you have a clean set save a copy of this file to use when fixing other offenders and to build a new, clean template.
