thanks for the response.

Funny, I thought I tried "read all from" (and relink) and found that it did not let me choose a .pln or archive file. It seemed that the functionality only existed for .pmks. Am I wrong?

Thanks,

<T>Does anyone know how to change the source file for linked drawings in plotmaker?
I have a plotmaker layout book and an archicad source file. I want to make a backup, so I archived the archicad file and did a "save as" for the plotmaker. In the future, if I did open the plotmaker file, I would want it to read from the archive... Ihow is this achieved. Otherwise, how are others handling this?

I need to be able to continue to use the two way relationship, even with backups... so PDF isn't good enough!

Thanks,

Hey Miguel

Do you still need them linked? You could just break them all and then archive.

If you want them linked then you will need to relink them in PlotMaker. When you copy a layout book and it's linked AC project, the link doesn't copy with them, much to my chagrin! That is to say that the lbk will be linked to the original pln, not the copy. I have submitted wishes/bug reports to GS regarding this issue on many occasions!

I have found also that PM's Drawing Usage>'Read All From...' command functions unpredictably - so to be absolutely sure, I'd would recommend selecting all views and using the 'Link To...' button, then finding the copied pln manually. Until GS improves the 'Read All From...' command. Thing is, if you have multiple pln's + OLE's, it can become somewhat of a task!

Hope that answers your question.

Cheers,
'Read All From...' lets you choose a folder. If there's a project in it, it will link to that project.

I think you can still link to a PLA, but I have not tried it and am a little too swamped to play with it right now!
