Hello

Exactly the same issue .. Still not possible to properly hold an axis with shift (as in every other 3d program)

Sometimes, the axis move, even with shift pressed, sometimes, it just wont activate any form of locking and start shaking frenetically ...

I tried changing the edition plane, doesn't seems to have any impact unfortunately.

Is it possible to expect a fix ? Like just a real axcis lock not matter what, until the moment you finished your action or typed esc ?

That would be really rellay useful.

Tell me if I just use the 3d in a bad way, in my opinion I tried everything to make it right but maybe not ...

A screen record for the context : https://jumpshare.com/s/3tYNRzIcsyiUTP8vwByE

Thank you, have a nice day.

Operating system used: Windows 3001 FRA FULL

In my opinion, it is probably because the axcis I'm trying to be on isn't parallel with the original axcis of the project.

What is sad, is that it does not seem to exist any option to relocate that. (If you plan to make it please juste make a working axcis lock first lol it would saves some steps)...

You could tell me to juste align the building with the archicad origin XYZ axcis, but when I have more than one building not parallels ??

If someone has a clue that would we awesome. Thanks

I agree - is there a way to hold or pre-define an axis rather than having archicad guess at what you want (and then switch to something else after you hit the shift key)? I would love to know!

Thanks!

It can depend what point you are trying to stretch and what pet palette option you are using.

First thing in 3D view is be prepared to turn the 'Surface Snap' option off if you don't intend to snap to another surface.

For a linear element like a wall or beam, if you stretch the reference line, there will be two options in the pet palette that you can use.

'Stretch' will go anywhere.

Turn on the snap guides and you can follow those, SHIFT will constrain to the closest snap guide, even when not aligned to the x/y axis.

The 'stretch length' option will only allow the stretch along the length - no need to constrain.

If you stretch a point other than the reference line, you will only have the stretch length option.

You can also set a rotated grid to be in line with your rotated element.

Hello Barry,

Thank you for your consideration.

I'm editing a custom profile so no "stretch lenght" option. And I want to work in 3d space so the rotated grid line isn't really helping.

I forgot to put it in video, but as advised in the previous thread, I tried switching on and off the surface attraction : no difference.

Actually I'm also using rhino and sketchup, and I can clearly see what a working "axis lock" function looks like, the surface attractor thing shouldn't be something to even talk about in my opinion because I just want to lock on the blue axis, If I want after to drag my element to a surface why should I not be able to do it?

Have a nice day! Hope someone fix this. (and maybe add a function to relocate u,v,w local axis by object or group I don't know, could help so much!)

I am not sure why shift is not working for you.

Works fine for me (see attached video).

You can also rotate the grid in 3D - it makes no difference though.

SHIFT still snaps to the guide line.

One thing I didn't show in the video is you can right click and lock to a guide line.

Don't have the strange shift shaking anymore with relocated axis by oriented grid. ! Thank you again, you solved kinda one of my major issue I never found the solution to this anywhere else! I could add that the guide snap is gone when you move your camera angle, but fixing that would make it perfect, and I don't need perfect juste usable! You made my month sir, thank you again!!

The snap guide lines are temporary and come and go as you move the mouse around.

You can active snap guides by hovering over an edge or node for a second and you will get a solid blue line or circle that will generate even more snap guides.

In 3D if the snap guides are at the same elevation you can find the intersection of them.

Sir Barry I have a bit of trouble to make it properly work finally, the right click -> lock on guide do really well the job but I can't manage to keep my new axis.. I relocate my origin : ok, I make my oriented grid : ok, but when I try to edit my slab it go back to an other axis settings.. 😕

Do you know why ?

Thank you

https://jumpshare.com/s/yxKep116K4qmP7E09wyz

As I mentioned the origin and axis does not really matter.

Start to stretch the node and the origin ans axis should relocate.

Drag the node in the direction you want and hold SHIFT to constrain to the closes axis or guide line.

That is all I am doing in this clip, trying to do the same as you.

Barry.

Hello Barry. Thank you for your message.

As shown in your video, I tried to do the same but the axis doesnt automatically relocate ... Do you know why ? I'm in archicad 27. Thanks. Have a nice day.

https://jumpshare.com/s/qbKI0S6fsY7I8NeUFfgb

The origin does relocate but it doesn't rotate.

I think it was because I had a rotated grid before.

You can set the rotated grid if you want but you can probably just use the snap guides.

The edges of your slab automatically project the snap guide lines along the length of the edge which you can snap to.
