Looking for a good video for creating railings

I looked around but can't find a good video that shows step-by-step instructions to create a railing from scratch. Everyone seems to be working with railings that already made. Can someone recommend a "from scratch" instructional railing video.

I attached what I am trying to make and what Archicad spit out when I thought I had all my settings correct.

I sure Graphisoft fixes the railing tool in the next iteration because this is why too much to go through to create a simple railing.

Do not have a video, but it looks like you tried using Inner Posts in place of Balusters? I did not think that Handrail Fixings connected to balusters.... You also need to set your Balusters to reference your two Rails instead of your Top Rail and the bottom.

ps. Added a Favourite that I quickly threw together using the Basic Timber Balustrade default as a base.

Regarding the videos, Graphisoft have it's own Learn portal where you can surely find what you are looking for.

You have to import the .prf file via Favorite palette (menu Windows > palletes > Favorites). There is a settings button with import command:

You have to add Favorite pallete to the work enviroment (menu Windows > palletes > Favorites). There the import/export command will be available.

This command is not available in any tool settings.

If that worked, I wouldn't be here asking! I guess I'll keep building stairs and railings the old fashioned way.

I was referring to the favourites.

As for railings and stairs, have a look on the Archicad YouTube channel.

The videos from when the tools were released should still be there.

They will show you the basics.

No, they all have railings already made instead of starting from scratch. I hope whoever designed the railing tool died a slow painful death, because I do every time I try to model railing with the railing tool.

Hi @CFS_Mike, Did you manage to find any useful videos on the railings basics online ?

There are three excellent videos produced by James Badcock from GS. Please search Archicad Tip Railings. These are basic but they helped me quite a bit. Stair railings are more complicated but you should get a few extra free videos when they were given attention in AC22.

There are videos but railings are very complex and hard to describe. You kind of need to know the strategy and the minuscule detail in order to create correct railings. I sometime use beams/morphs for the handlebars to get clean look in 3D GS should create a series of railing tuts recreating some actual common railings and describe the strategy and settings used. Jamed B's videos as mentioned before is a good start but only a scratch on the surface. Put in the hard work.

Also, Graphisoft would do themselves a big favour making those misterious educational videos available to the public. I dont think anyone has ever paid to see them anyway.
