topic How can I extrude a mesh/give it a thickness in Modeling

I'm trying to create a solid object with a mesh to create a ground that cuts properly in section. I've tried using the solid tools to subtract and extrude up - this works but causes other issues with the rest of the model.

I'm hoping there's a simple way to extrude (or something similar) the mesh to give it a thickness.

Screenshot of mesh below.

Check out the Mesh-to-Roof Add-On that is part of the Goodies package. It can generate Roofs based on the Mesh surface geometry. It may achieve what you are after:

Hi Coll,

Can you describe or show an example of the mesh SEO issues you are having?

I often use additional meshes (with depth) inserted into the base survey topo for cut/fill work and it models nicely.

The only issue I was having was the Planned meshes would leave holes in the existing topo when in Existing RS. That issue was resolved for me with the introduction of DOs, which prevent interactions with the Main Model. I put the new cut/fill meshes in a separate DO, which I set to hidden in Existing RS views.

Hope this helps.

Adding on to Barry's post, the Skirt needs to be "deeper" than the lowest node on your mesh. If not you will get a geometry generation error. So if the contour on the bottom your your slope is say 18m below your Mesh Reference Plane (the 2D blue outline), then your Skirt height needs to be at least 18m.
