While using Archicad, we’re experiencing severe performance issues with certain files. Opening a file takes 10–15 minutes, and performing simple actions like copying or pasting even a single line or fill can take up to 10 minutes. Saving or using “Save As” also takes 10–15 minutes.

When we create and work in a new Archicad file, everything functions normally. However, as soon as we copy any content from an older file into the new one, the same performance issues begin.

We tried resolving this by updating from Archicad 26 to Archicad 28, but the problem persists.

If anyone has encountered this issue before, we’d really appreciate hearing how you managed to fix it.

You say a new file is OK until you copy something from an older file.

I am wondering if it has to do with what you have in the Embedded Library of those old files.

When you copy and paste, all of that gets copied over and if you have MASTER GDL files, that will create potentially a whole bunch of new attributes.

What is in your Embedded library?

Can you delete it all without affecting your file with missing objects?

Try deleting it and see what is missing.

You can always cancel or just don't save your file, or mess around with a copy of the file so it doesn't matter if you destroy it.

It can also be the properties and classifications, especially if all properties are applied to all classifications.
