Hi,

We have been using LAND4 since some years now.

While it somewhat does what we expect it to, there's still some flaws or shortcomings.

We found our way to work around most of these, but an improved version of would be appreciated.

On a more serious note. We have recently been experiencing issues with specific files where they crash on opening, and a repair is not possible.

This has been logged as a support case with Land4, who are currently working on resolving the issue (which we do hope to receive soon!).

Is anyone here using alternative methods on creating terrain models from XYZ-files or point clouds?

RhinoLands could be a competitor, but yet they don't provide an Archicad Add-on.

One way would be to generate the terrain in Rhino and use the Rhino Add-on to import the object(s) into Archicad.

Anyone using this method and willing to share their thoughts on this?!

Operating system used: Windows 6000

Hopefully LAND4 finds a fix for your issue, it certainly seems the addon has received frequent updates as of late.

I have used the Rhino Grasshopper add-on to generate meshes (I *think* it might support Morphs also, so you could generate thicknesses), but don't really see this as a solution for design use. It's OK for bringing in a mesh of an existing surface, but not really comparable to LAND4 in any other way. Of course all sorts of automations could be created to for more complex solutions - but then that's what LAND4 does, and I don't really see a path to more optimized ways of working, other than limiting the abilities to very specific functions.
