Hi,

I am modelling a relitively complex handrail in an existing building. I am modelling this using a custom profiled handrail. This works well except that between each node there are strange gaps and geometries when it should just be a smooth run all the way up.

I have tested almost every variation of railing settings, node setting handrail settings and they all just make the problem worse and introduce new more complicated geometric issues. I know I could just model it in Rhino and import it as an object, but I am surprised that ArchiCAD struggles with what is essentially just a profile following a line. I am very happy to use other tools to model it in archiCAD but I tried using a beam and it wouldnt allow me to curve it in two dimensions.

Hopefully I have overlooked something obvious and there is a simple fix!

Images of the issue are attatched.

Thanks in advance!

Operating system used: Windows

AC stuggles with curves like that. In reality, the curve would not be a single radius, but AC can only do simple curves, so it simplifies resulting in curves that do not join neatly. Sometimes you also get small Connecting rails which when deleted in Edit Mode will clean up nicer.

Hi Ling,

Thanks for the comment - I have tried going into edit mode and deleting things but nothing pops up on those weird edges as an option to delete.

Guess rhino it is, unless you can think of another way to model it...

Thanks so much!
