I have been working on a project and have it nearly complete, now the Solid element operation trimming upwards on the existing terrain by the new driveway doesn't work. I have tried everything that generally causes these sort of issues including running the operation numerous times again and no luck. THe operation has been fine for the past 4 months and has only now just stopped working. I have checked the layer assignment numbers to ensure they are different, checked Design options, renovation filters and MVOs that might interfere and no response. Any ideas ?

How is the terrain and driveway modelled? Are there any existing SEO utilising these two elements?

They are both mesh objects, the driveway mesh has another SEO working on it and then the final driveway is extracted with upwards from the site mesh. It has been fine for 4 months and only now just stopped working.

most commonly this is a bMat issue. It could be, given that it suddenly stopped working, that the building material for the operator was dropped to a lower bMat priority than the target.
It could also be design options; if it is a hidden operator, and it was pinned to a design option that is no longer visible, it would ignore the SEO.
last thing to check is that there are not conflicting or redundant operations; sometimes you just have to remove all targets and operators from an element and start over

Meshes do not do Priority Based Intersections. If they are not on mutually exclusive Design Options, nor the operator being on a different Renovation Filter and there is no 2nd SEO removing the relevant part of the operator, then I have no clue...

Somethings to watch out for when you are trying to do SEO,

Make sure that the objects / elements is not interacting with other objects/ element like its being subtracted by the other objects/element by the priority base connections or building materials if it does whatever operation you do it won't happen.

Try placing Operators in a different layer with different channel so it won't interact with any objects/elements it will save you a ton of time figuring out what's going on and why the operation not happening. Hopefully this helps. 😎

but something on a hidden layer could be cutting.... which may be another test; turn all hidden layers to layer group 0

I've had this problem in a file a year or two ago on 27 and I am fairly sure it was the number of SEOs on the terrain mesh (there were lots of complex profile foundations and segmented columns, garage ramp shells with complex curves, design options, etc.). At some point the file said “enough”. Back then I came to that conclusion by eliminating some of the SEOs on the mesh and then redoing them from some simpler auxiliary element, but once you are working against the limit it is a miserable situation.

In some cases like that, it is better to break up your mesh into multiple parts so that each part has few SEO interactions. Regarding foundations, you could do a single generic SEO of your buildings footprint, then SEO a seperage mesh to your foundation profiles.
