Do note though that GOs will override the entire element, so if you are using a Composite, it will override all layers.

Concrete block wall

Hi everyone!

I am struggling with some problems with my concrete block wall.

1. I made a symbol fill which I have applied to the building material and set as a fit to skin. It follows the orientation, but the fill doesn't start with the beginning of the wall. Looks like it refers to a random point instead of the beginning of the wall.

2. Is it possible to create a building material that presents 2 different fills in plan and in section - exactly how it would be in reality, following real size of the concrete block or brick? Pasting some screenshots, I hope it explains it a bit better.

Operating system used: Windows

Hi @Marszel91

A building material cannot have two cut fillings at the same time, but there is an alternative solution that might work for you:

1. Create a symbol cut fill for horizontal (plan) with the Fill Orientation as Fit to Skin.

2. Create a symbol cut fill for vertical (section) views. Do not draw vertical lines.

3. Create a new Graphic Override Rule and Graphic Override Combination with a special criteria for that CMU building material, so this last new "vertical" fill applies for cuts.

4. Apply that Graphic Override Combination to section views.

As far as I know you can't allign cut fills, so the block pattern is going to end up being related to the origin of the view, rather than showing a realistic section. You are better off patching your section up with a 2D object, in my opinion.
