Sure!

This is how it looks in 2D.

Placement is center of boundary, like you have it.

The profile is centered, so is the cap. This would now need to be adjusted in the profile editor as well.

Hi There,

I am experiencing some problems with the curtain wall tool. i have a custom border profile which works well on one side of the curtain wall, whereas on the opposite side, it influences the way the window panels are being generated - more specifically it cuts the adjacent panel by exactly the width of the edge profile, as if the ghost profile would be mirrored in that place.

Looking forward to a logical explanation and fix for this!

PS: i tried also with a mirrored/rotated/mirrored and rotated profile. All other orientations create unwanted results. this is the closest to the desired result...

Operating system used: Windows 6020 NED

well, redrawing the curtain wall wiht the exact same dimensions and the exact same panels and profiles seems to have fixed the issue... but would be glad if redrawing something which should have worked in the first place would not be necessary in order to fix an issue which seems to be more of a bug. 😉

Aaand yet another remark. Why version 2 seemed to have worked is due to the fact that the las frame dimension was not as intended (125) but less. Once i reposition the scheme grid to the required dimensions, the panel gets cut off again... The workaround or fix seems to be selecting the mullions in the scheme and moving them to the desired positions - off scheme grid.

Hence the current workaround is visible in V4.

What component are you using, @2D ?

Is it the "Custom Profile" where you draw something in the profile editor?

Also what's the Boundary Frame placement method?

I also suspect that placing the center of the frame at the actual center of the total bounding box might help here.

You will need to play with this value here however, so set the inbound panel has the right clamp width.

If i place it with the outside, the bug/cutout does not occur anymore, i would then have to manually adjust the size of the first and last panel by the width of the boundary frame.

it still remains a bug, since the automatic mirroring of the profile works correctly, yet the panel gets represented wrong - as if the mirroring would not occur.

@Ricardo Lopez
I tried centering it, the bug persists.

So for now we have found around 3 workarounds to solve a bug in an ancient archicad tool. 😉

Yeah, it looks like a bug, because it will be fine in 2D, but not in 3D. You should report that to your reseller so it can get fixed.

However, if you "play by the rules", it works fine in both 2D and 3D form the start. Meaning, you have to center your profile.

The CW tool always assumes that the center point of a profile is in the actual center.

I recreated your file: If I center the profile in the profile editor so the geometric center is at {0,0} then everything works out. Also the miters are no longer broken. Then I can just adjust the clamp depth and it looks all good.
