Hey,

If you find the default objects limitative, the only other workflow i know/use is actually modelling the panels using walls and slabs.

first step, for custom high end kitchens; pretend the cabinet objects don't exist.
those library parts are amazing. they can do A LOT of stuff. But with any tool, the more it can do, the less it does well. If you are doing a spec home or even just a project that is using off the shelf cabinets/counters/etc... and "close enough" is your target, the cabinet objects are going to get you all you need.
...

given that you mention kitchen joinery, and want it "custom", I assume you want to get into the weeds; being precise on details. So you need to think about how much detail you need. Think about the shapes that can be created with each tool. model it from scratch.
beam for toe kick, slabs and walls for cabinet boxes, beams and columns for face frames, custom objects or morphs for door/drawer faces, slabs for counters, beams for cleats, morphs, shells, beams, etc. for hardware... build to the detail you need with model primitives. Manage plan/section/elevation visiblity with layers and display order

...

also, consider using the cabinet objects as parts and pieces. so use them for the doors and drawers, so that you can have parametric control and apply custom macros/sub-parts where needed. But for the cbainet boxes, toe kick, counter; start breaking them out into separate components.

I do my doors with CPs together with SEOs. Then for elevating everything I have a custom object that I overlay to show opening types and annotation.

cabinet objects as parts and pieces. so use them for the doors and drawers

You can use the cabinet objects without their caracase?
