Yes, I’ve also used modules and placed them on the site. However, I’ve never encountered a slope difference of 4.00 meters. The mesh is also at sea level. Maybe I need to lower the site as well. But as I mentioned, I’ll come back to this later next week and report. You’ve all given me some things to try, and I’ll report on the final decision that gives me the best result. Appreciate your interest. Thank you

Hi everyone, I’m running into a technical issue while designing a multi-residential project in Archicad 29 and would appreciate any suggestions.

I’m using modules for repeating apartment units and creating two towers with different layouts. The site has a significant slope (about 4 meters difference from north to south) and is modeled with a mesh set at 12 m above sea level.

When placing the modules for the towers, some walls do not display correctly in the floor plan. They either disappear or do not show as cut walls.

I suspect it’s related to the varying story levels relative to project zero due to the sloping terrain.

I have already tried:

Adjusting the Floor Plan Cut Plane

Changing the Wall Floor Plan Display to Symbolic Cut

But the walls still don’t appear correctly.

Has anyone experienced this issue when using modules on sloped sites with different story elevations?
Are there recommended settings for module placement, story references, or wall display settings that could resolve this?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If Symbolic Cut is not getting them to show properly, are you sure there is not some other element whos FPCP representation is interfering with it?

Hi @iggiv

Watch the following video: https://youtu.be/s-UX_OfUdlA?si=Fn09zzSiEWjAPIzG

Key steps include:

Creating multiple views of the current floor and adjusting the cutting plane height for each one individually.

Placing these views individually onto the layout sheet.

Finalizing the layout by cropping the view frames and aligning them properly.

I have done a lot of campus style residences, saving each building as a module. As long as the walls are set to symbolic cut, changing the elevation of the placed module still shows walls correctly.
I do like Ricardo's solution, but only if there is little to no chance of the plan changing; as you'd have to track that change through all placed drawing crops as well. I've done similar to show varied knee walls in attic plans and concrete curb walls in slab and crawl space plans. But it's not a go to. It's a great option when walls may need to show outlines in some plans, but cut in others.

Multiple Views also allows you to use Multi-Storey elements as Symbolic Cut can only be set when the element is set to only display on it's Home Storey, but when you start needing more than a handful of Views, in a project where the elevation of buildings is not fixed it is impactical. Split Views can also causes issues if you ever need to export a drawing.

Fortunately, the OP probably only needs two, maybe three Views.

Actually, I’ve set up the walls in the units module as Symbolic Cut and then placed them on the towers. After that, I’ve placed the tower module in the site. I’ve done this twice.

I still have a lot to do to finish the pre-design before I move on to the exterior hardscape and finalize everything. I promise to come back and report on who I presented.

I’ll double-check to make sure I’ve set the wall correctly, but since the site isn’t a priority right now, I haven’t been working on it. I can align thighs by using hotspots where I need them, or I can align them in the 3D view.

I appreciate your comment and interest, and I’ll come back in a week or so to show you how to solve this.

It looks like that might be the issue, but I’ll give the ground floor a shot. I’m not a fan of the hovering effect, but I’ll experiment with it to see if it can be helpful. Thanks again for your interest and help! These tips seem to be potencial. I’ll report back on the best solution for me soon.
