topic Re: Profile Beam - showing projection of bottom face in plan? in Modeling

I have a solution:

Make sure that the Uncut part of the Beam is set to Projected. Then, in the Profile Manager, create a new Node on the top edge of the Beam Profile exactly above the vertical edge you want to see in 2D. Then, duplicate the Surface of the Profile's Building Material, and assign it to one of the edges on either side of the inserted Node. Now, in 3D, this will result in the inserted edge being visible because the Surfaces on its two sides are different (they look exactly the same, but their index number is different so they are considered different internally by Archicad.)

Two notes:

1. The edge will be visible in 3D, but since the whole Beam is under the Slab, that may not be a problem.

2. Now we have duplicate Surfaces, which can be a problem in Labels and Schedule. I would circumvent this issue by creating a Property, and use an expression with an IF statement, so the Property value is the same for a Surface and its duplicate. Let us say, your Surface Name is "Concrete - 04". I would name the duplicate in a way that it contains a character or characters that distinguishes it fron normal Surfaces. For example, I named mine "Concrete - 04::2". When you create the Property Expression, you can make it so that if the name of the Surface contains these characters, it will cut them off so the Property value will be the same for a Surface and its duplicate. Then I would use that Property in Labels/Schedules instead of the original Surrface name.

Am I missing something here, is there a better way to show this?

Here's the best I have so far:
Beam floor plan projection tip
