Hi there,

How would I join wall a (in red) and wall b (in blue) so that the garage door shown cuts through both?

I don't think that is possible (joining walls, have them at different heights and have a door cut through both.

A workaround: make one wall continuous (the red one) and place an opening into it so it cuts around your desired silhouette:

As CosminF mentioned, it is not possible to have one door cut two walls.

So create one tall wall and cut part away with an opening as he suggests, or run the red wall through and add the blue part above it so you won't need the extra empty opening.

Or add an opening in the full height blue wall where the door is.

I would use an opening to punch the hole you want in both walls, then place a separate wall and host the door in a wall that is the same dimension as the door.
you could technically put the door into one wall, then an opening to extend into the other; but this usually results in doors that do not associate to zones in the door schedule. The door needs to be fully contained by a wall at least the width/height of the door for schedules to associate the door to a zone name.
