1. Is it possible to do a 3D cutaway with selected walls still showing at normal height?

2. My work around is to save it as a library part and then turn on the layers required to see the selected walls at the normal height.

But this means I have to constantly update my lib part and hope it doesn't move.

I can offer you a way but it is not going to be a perfect solution.

Instead of using the Cutting Plane, which will cut everything, you can create a Slab to do the cutting of the Walls. You should create a new Building Material (BM) with a very high IP, or Intersection Priority (like 998) so that it will cut almost everything (more on this later). Assign this BM to the Slab. The Slab outline on the Floor Plan should be large enough so it overlaps every Wall you want to cut. Intersecting Walls and Slabs will automatically connect based on their Building Material Priorities. In this case, the Slab will cut all Walls if the Intersection Priority of their BMs is lower than 998.

Here comes the trick part: create another BM with an IP of 999. Then, select the Walls you still want to be seen at full height, temporarily set them to Basic Walls (if they are Composite), and assign them this BM with the 999 IP. These Wall will not be cut by the Slab, because their IP is higher. So, this achieve the desired outcome; however, the Surface of all those changed Walls will change to the Surface of the assigned BM - this is why it is not a perfect solution.

When you're finished; you need to undo the change to the Walls.

You can create a wireframe Layer and place the Slab on it, and even hide the Layer; as long as the Intersection Group Number of the Slab's Layer is the same as that of the Walls's Layer, the Priority-Based Intersection will work. Create a Layer Combo for this.

Then, it all other Layer Combos, make sure the Intersection Group Number of the Slab's Layer is set to 0 so it does not intersect with anything in those Layer Combos.

Hi, what would be the intention for doing that? for active work on the 3d window or for some 3d axonometrics to put in layouts??

Not bad, but still a lot of messing around.

That said I will keep it in mind.

Thank you 😀

It's mainly for 3D representation, in this case it's a combined layout of 9 units on a 2 meter sloping block "showing clearly in 3D" where the floor slab heights are and clearly identifying the screen walls that have a different footing.

There are multiply ways this would be helpful for client presentation in this case though, It's mainly for 3D representation, in this case it's a combined layout of 9 units on a 2 meter sloping block "showing clearly in 3D" where the floor slab heights are and clearly identifying the screen walls that have a different footing.

Is there a need to show to walls cut off at the FFL? I would just turn off all the interior and exterior walls, and have the screen walls on a 3rd layer. Then, if you are multi storey, limit your 3D display to the ground floor and below only.

Ling.

ps. Given the copy paste, are you using the threaded layout on this forum?
