Archicad 29 MEP – How can I add 2", 4", 6" and Fire Riser pipe sizes?

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can point me in the right direction because I am currently stuck on a real project.

I am using Archicad 29 (standard license) with the native MEP Modeler.

While modeling the plumbing and fire protection systems, I noticed that the available Pipe Reference Set only includes diameters up to DN65 (75 × 4.7 mm).

For my project I need, at a minimum:

2" pipe (domestic water and some fire protection branches)
Fire sprinkler riser sizes (4" and 6", depending on the hydraulic calculations)
4" PVC sewer
6" PVC sewer

These pipe sizes are essential because I am coordinating all disciplines in BIM and need to perform clash detection. At the moment I cannot accurately verify whether the sanitary stacks and fire risers fit within the limited shaft space available.

After researching the documentation, I learned that Route Specifications appear to be available only in Archicad Collaborate, and this option does not exist in my installation.

My questions are:

Is there any way to add additional pipe diameters in the standard version of Archicad 29?
Do I need an additional license or module to edit Pipe Reference Sets?
Can Route Specification XML files created in Archicad Collaborate be imported into the standard version?
Is there an official Graphisoft library (for example Sewage Inside, Sewage Outside, or Fire Protection) that includes these larger pipe diameters?
Has anyone successfully added 2", 4", and 6" pipe sizes to the native MEP Modeler?

I would appreciate any guidance, examples, or recommended workflows.

Hello.
You need to configure and create your dimensions; this will standardize pipes, materials, transitions, elbows, and so on. There's no difference between Collaborate and the one you have (if it allows you to model MEP).

That is exactly the window I've been looking for, but unfortunately it does not exist anywhere in my Archicad 29 installation.

Could you please help me with a few questions?

Which edition of Archicad 29 are you using (Standard or Collaborate)?
From which menu do you open the Route Specifications window? Could you tell me the complete menu path?
If possible, could you share a screenshot showing the menu just before opening that window?
Could you also tell me your Archicad 29 build number? (Help → About Archicad)

I'm currently working on a multi-family residential project and need to add 2", 4", and 6" pipe diameters for domestic plumbing, sanitary sewer, and fire protection. My installation only includes sizes up to DN65, so I can't accurately model the systems or perform clash detection within the limited ceiling space available.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. It really looks like that window is exactly what I've been trying to find.

Thank you very much for the screenshots!

I think I see the difference now.

It looks like you're using the Legacy Graphisoft MEP Modeler, while I'm using the new native MEP Modeler included in Archicad 29.

My interface is completely different, and I don't have the "MEP Systems", "Route Specifications", or "MEP Explorer" toolbars that appear in your screenshots.

Could you confirm whether you're using the Legacy MEP Add-On or the new native MEP tools?

If you're using the native MEP Modeler in Archicad 29, I'd really appreciate knowing how you access that Route Specifications window.

There are two MEP toolbars, are you sure you have both of them visible?

This is the new MEP in Archicad 29, I have no legacy settings loaded as far as I know.

I think you just do not see the relevant menu command in your menu.

Go to the Work Environment, Menus page, list All commands in alphabetical order, an search for "route", then you will find the "Route Specifications" command in the list. Just add it to the menu of your choice.

Alternately, if you apply the "MEP Engineering Profile 29" Profile, the command will be there on the "MEP toolbar" toolbar on your interface.

After all kinds of testing, I finally found the solution!

The issue was that the Route Specifications option was not loaded in my Archicad library. Once I added it, everything started working correctly.

Now I just need to build the DN sizes that are missing.

Hopefully this helps someone else who runs into the same problem. Thanks to everyone who took the time to help!
