I'd create a polyline and do multiple offsets to estabish new contour guides, but graphics or math - both methods are manual and tedious.

Why not abandon the contour abstraction totally?

Create the essential slope ridges and multply them around your circular area. Then connect the dots with appropriate mesh nodes.

<T>I was wondering what is the easiest way to smooth out contour edges to create a uniform slope...i have a circular area with multiple meshes on top of each other getting uniformily smaller towards the last mesh in the center....how do i slope the mesh downwards in all directions form the highest point...</T>

At the risk of being glib (and in the absence of a clear idea of exactly what you are attempting) I would say, "Do the math."
