Trim To Roof Problems

Ever since iv been using archicad, the main problem that iv had has been trimming walls once raising them to a roof level. There always appears at random sections of wall...slight strips of wall that remain upright at the previous level while the rest of the trimmed wall works correctly and is at roof level. Iv tryed extending the roof area around the section of wall that hasnt trimmed without success...does anyone have any solutions to this?

Hi Peach,

The roof needs to actually overhang the wall it is trimming as it sometimes fails to quite cover the edge, even if you draw it in-line. That is probably the problem you are having.

Don't forget the trim to roof command isn't dynamic. You will need to undo the trim-to-roof command, and then apply it again with the edited roof to see the changes.

You could also use the 'SEO with upwards extrusion' as an alternative to trim-to-roof as this automatically updates the cut if the roof or wall is moved.

i 'm guessing the strips of wall you have are at places where there are two bits of roof?
if so, the roofs are not joining properly even though you think they are (just one of those archicad quircks)
extend the roofs into/ over one another and try trimming again. then, peel the roofs back to where they ought to be.

You actually might be better offsetting the roof edges back away from each other, then select one, CTRL-click the other (and vice versa) to make sure the edges DO connect properly.

Yes, it's a common misconception that using the pet palette to modify roofs will heal them. It's not. The only way to truly heal roofs together is to ctrl/cmd click them.
