in my opinion not having an automatic area update (as it is with fills) is just completely wrong. And the fact that the minute you change a zone area the numerical area shown is wrong until its updated is a recipe for disaster. The fact that this might happen should be in flashing neon in the manual.

After my brush with disaster - almost walking into a client meeting with completely wrong area/ construction cost numbers i refuse to use the zone tool at all. And, yes i hadn't read the manual as to the lack of update but frankly on something as counterintuitive as that "feature" you shouldn't have to. the feature should never be. I only use fills for areas now. they are fail safe. I will never trust the zone tool. ever.

<T>I'm using Zone Stamp-02 on 8.1, the one that has Bold Zone Names...
When I Stretch a room, (Display Option = Show Zone Polygon), the zone stamp does not update. So I have, to Select: Options-Update Zone, to get the zone stamp to work. Is there an option to Update, the zone stamp , simultaneously as I stretch the room??</T>

This has been the common procedure for zone stamps in ArchiCAD. One always had to select Update Zone command to have an update of rearranged zones.

This seems really strange. In ArchiCAD 7 all of the zones updated automatically.
