I'm using 2d parts. I've tested my original pln file (which was Teamworked in v7, but now solo in v9), and in a new v9 document.
Same behavior with my own parts of native Graphisoft v9 parts.

I can successfully drag-a-copy of any 2d library part in a detail window, but in the section window, no.

<T>Very odd. I haven't been working in 9 long enough to test for patterns of this behaviour, but I'm working in unlinked section windows (drawings) and am finding when I have a library part selected, "Drag A Copy" menu item is disabled. Key shortcut doesn't work either. Multiple copy works...
I thought perhaps I was just crazy since nooone responed to this aging query, but I just checked again, and the behaviour is the same. Working in a unlinked (now simply "Drawing" status, in 9.0), I can't drag-a-copy of a library part.
You could never do this. Windows, doors, all 2D elements, yes. Everything else, no.

Try 3D window. With OpenGL on of course.

Do other objects drag in the section window? And I'm assuming that the library part is a 2D symbol as the section is unlinked. Is the file teamworked? I have seen this problem with AC8.1 and teamworked files on certain section windows. You would need to redefine your workspace (without really redefining anything) and it would go away.

Just tried it, and it works - Drag, invoked from the context menu or shortcut, hit CTRL ot CTRL ALT, and you have Drag a copy or Drag a multiple copy.

Thanks for testing, Djordje. I get similar results, but it still seems odd. Contextual menu, dragging after hitting cmd-key (Mac) produces a single copy.

When I look at my undo menu, though, it says Undo Drag Multiply/1.

At all times, the simple Drag-A-Copy menu item and keyboard shortcut are not available.

Perhaps its a Mac thing. Obviously, I can get the functionality I need: in section windows, to make a single copy of a library part the operation will always be a Drag Multiple of 1.

Likewise. As I weaned mself off the Drag a copy and prefer the ALT and CTRL (OPTION and ALT for you) method as I can switch between the modes, I don't find this behavior is a problem.

I have moved to 9 this morning, and this is the first item of note - I have been experiencing the exact same behavior. When a line is selected, drag a copy works, both from the menu and from the shortcut. When a library part is selected, drag a copy is grayed out in the menu, and the shortcut does nothing. I must have done the shortcut 5 times before I figured out what was going on, as I have just switched to PC, and the keyboard is slightly different, and makes for some repetitive (excessively) actions.

Anyway, there is no enable or disable of the element copy transformation commands, but it seems to be parallel to the issue. Hopefully, there is a workaround...
I started using the option and Alt but this morning I went to rotate a copy of a library part and this was not available. This makes it a two step operation; first copy the part and then rotate. This cannot be what Graphisoft had in mind.

It works quite nicely over here:
I experienced the same "drag & copy" an object and wrote to Jeff @ graphisoft. I was using the Ctl+Shift+D sequence and the "drag+copy" was grayed out.
This is what Jeff wrote"

<<"3. I cannot "drag and copy" an object. I am able to "drag & copy" a
line but not an object. What I need to do is to initiate the pet palette
begin to drag and depress the Option key in order to drag & copy. "

Are you aware that Cmd+Opt+D is related to the Docking Bar
in Mac OS?

In Mac OS 10.3 the default for "auto hide and show the dock" is also
cmd+opt+d, and this will disable drag a copy. Go to System
Preferences/Keyboard & Mouse/Menu shortcuts to disable this system
shortcut, or assign a different shortcut for ArchiCAD/PlotMaker.
I've already assigned Command D to drag a copy. This always seemed more mac like as Command D was always duplicate for a mac. This doesn't change the fact that you cannot drag a copy of an object in a section window; but as Djordje says you can use the alt/option key to drag a copy. I believe this is Graphisoft's way to force us to use the new method.

That works always, and you don't need to assign shortcuts, and on top of all that, you have an option od drag/drag a copy/drag a multiple copy as you wish.

Much better, IMHO. Just new and different.
Oh-- I've been enjoying the pluses trick since you first wrote about it. It's a substantial improvement - thanks for brining it to my attention.
