topic Double click, a missed opportunity? in Modeling

<T>Double clicking on an object in ArchiCAD doesn't do anything different than single clicking. Is this a missed opportunity?

In VectorWorks 10 they made the double click execute the most frequently performed operation, depending on the object. For example, double click a text block and you're in text edit mode, double click a symbol and you're in symbol edit mode, etc. Very simple feature but I experienced increased productivity immediately.

I'd sure love that same behavior with text and labels, and what about double clicking an S/E or Detail marker to jump to that view? For common objects like walls maybe it would just Select & Activate the tool.

In my fantasy world of digital collaboration, different users would experience different behavior. As a creator, double clicking on an object would facilitate editing. Users with only View or Mark Up privileges would get something like the Element Info palette. Of course it would work the same in plan, S/E and 3D.

If GS were to implement such a feature they would be forced to devise another way to cycle through the selection of superimposed objects. Considering the difficulties with the current (lack of) method, that would be an added benefit.

Thoughts?</T>
