I couldn't figure out why when my drawing tool setting was set to zoom extents, my drawings would come into the layout w/ a huge blank area.

I found out that when my "VIEW" setting for a drawing is set for "Current Zoom" or "Zoomed Area", when I insert that drawing into the layout it will be inserted to show all of that the zoomed area, regardless of the default drawing tool setting.

I remember reading somewhere long time ago somewhere that someone recommended to always set the zoom to "None", now I have to agree...

Like any tool, you can set up the Default Settings. The Drawing Tool does not allow you to recall every setting (eg. update type), but it will let you store most.
Cheers,
For some reason my Layout Title ( do not stay) keep changing to some default settings that I can not fine. Is it a bug that set setting of titles revert back to a default?
Thanks,
Dennis:

You might want to check which setting you have under Preferences > Layouts > "When placing model views onto Layouts, adjust each drawing frame to show only zoomed area of model view".
