ArChiCAD education 9.0 and ArchiCAD education 8.1

Is ArchiCAD education 9.0 can read the ArichiCAD education 8.1 file?
The project that I work in the school is ArchiCAD 8.1 and I plan to buy the new version of ArchiCAD education 9.0
Now I just a little bit worry if I cannot read the school project

Is ArchiCAD can read the patch (download through web) file? Just like commerical version. I'm student also. Is there any different from commerical version?

sorry! I mean the updates of latest version. But I know now AC9 can updated in help menu.

official Graphisoft website write:
"For bug fixes between main versions, please start ArchiCAD 9 and go to Help menu and click on Check for Updates ... to update your ArchiCAD or click Check for Latest Library... to update your Library."
