opening and closing interface.......

Greetings Architalkers-

Here's a soon to be obsolete 8.1 question. When I open ArchiCAD the position of my 2D and 3D palettes continue to open in different positions than they were closed in. I normally close out by ; save>close>exit. I have tried save>exit, save>closing via the "X" box top right as well. No consistency either way. On occassion it will open as I closed but I cannot figure out why

This is small potatoes I realize but still annoying. Any ideas?
