Story Marker

Does anyone know how,where,if you can, etc. create a different kind of Story Marker to be displayed in the Section/Elev? What folders are the different Section/Elev. Markers, Story Markers stored? In the Section/Elev. dialogue box apparently you can load a different marker.
How can you created one or if you can purchase different markers?

The easiest ways I know of to hunt down an Archicad object that is in their library are:
1) Place the object/marker/stair, select it, then click File > GDL Objects > Open object...
2) When that's not possible, extract the LCF file and use your OS's "Search" function to find the object you want.

I have not seen any for sale or created any of my own.... yet. They are on a list of things I am trying to explore..

If you have other Story Markers available to you, they would be visible in the dialog pulldown (they are objects of Subtype "Story Marker'). The US AC10 Library only came with one: "Basic Story Marker". I opened that object, "Saved As" and customized my own story marker from there (of course, it helps to know GDL...)

Hello Laura,
Where did you find the "Basic Story Marker" ?
I could not find it in the extracted library.
I found lots of markers in the General folder
but no story marker.

no need to extract the LCF - just use the 'Open Object by Subtype...' command and navigate through the loaded object subtypes to find what you're looking for:

General GDL Object/Drawing Symbol/Marker/Storey Marker/Basic Storey Marker

then - as laura says - 'Save As..' to your own company library before amending it to your needs . . .

(and if you know enough GDL to get the right-hand marker text justified left whilst the left-hand marker text is justified right, please share the damn thing with the rest of us who don't!)

Hello Ben,
There must be a difference between the AUS AC 10 library
and the USA AC 10 library because there are no sub-folders
inside the Marker Symbols folder.
Maybe the "Basic Story Marker is in
"Built-in Libraries" which can't be opened.

Hello Ben,
Thank you. I just downloaded it.
I also found out where this object is stored in the USA AC 10 library
by opening by sub-type, "saving as" under the same name into
another folder of the loaded libraries, reloaded libraries, and
viewed the library loading report that stated that there were
two objects with the same name.
One was in Support:ArchicadResources.Framework:rfs:Basic Story Marker
So in the USA AC 10 library the object is in Built-in Libraries

Yes -- this is what I did, except I gave it a different name when "saving as".
