topic Walls over Walls in Modeling

<R>Hello Talkers,

Problem:
When I want to show different alternatives of walls or columns, even though each alternative are on separate layers, and of course alternative 1 is off when alternative 2 is on, I find that when the "on" wall crosses over where an "off" wall is located, it cleans up as if that other wall is there !!

If something is turned off, it should be invisible and unnoticed entirely !!!

Is there no way in ArchiCAD to show several alternative solutions besides opening up a new project for each one, or moving the alternatives to new different locations on screen each time ??

Dear Naftali,

I suppose you are using ArchiCAD 8 (or newer) because this is a behavior introduced from this version.

The way in which ArchiCAD clean up the intersection is based on layers intersection group numbers (you can define them in the Layer Settings dialog window.
A simple workaround is to use the add-on named "Intersections in Combos" located in the goodies folder that let you change/handle this behavior in a simpler way.
