Hi Jay,

I haven't got much adjustment on the screen resolution. I can only lower it.

I'm not sure if that would have forced AC to return to the correct size. I didn't try it, but I presumed as it was in a windowed mode not full-screen it would just ignore the visible boundaries of the screen. I will try it first next time though, just to check!!

I run each screen at 1280 x 1024 - the maximum for these LCD screens, so I couldn't increase it to get a larger desktop to aid my search for wandering windows (you could with those old-fashioned CRTs d@mn this modern technology!! (Shakes fist vigorously at screens ) )

Thanks anyway!

<R>Ok, I've done a stupid thing!!

As I'm running on two screens I normally run ArchiCAD in a windowed state in order to stretch it to its full extent.

Unfortunately I've managed to somehow make it so it is completely off my screen!!

I can still see the tab on the taskbar at the bottom, with which I can right-click on it and select maximise or minimise etc but all it does is maximise on one screen. If I then try to make it run in a window it disappears again.

Is there any way to get it back to how it was quickly? If not I will have to reinstall ArchiCAD again, because I can't figure it out. (yes I admit it, I'm a numpty!)

Your humble plonker ,
Reinstalling might not help. I think the window locations are in the Preferences folder somewhere in your profile.

You might be able to rename that folder and see if it helps, but then you will have to re-create the preferences you want to keep (or maybe re-load them from the old preferences somehow)

I wonder what would happen if you disconnect one monitor.. if everything would readjust to one screen, then you might be able to relocate the windows. I think Macs work that way.

Thanks for replying guys!

I think I've got it sorted now. I had to restart the machine a couple of times and thump it with the ArchiCAD manual*. ArchiCAD then eventually opened up with everything squished up into the top left-hand corner, with tiny floor plan and section windows, and an incy-wincy 3d window! It's all working again now though thankfully.

Usefully some SEOs then decided to stop working as well for no reason. It all adds to the adventure doesn't it!

It's funny how these things pop up occasionally and completely stump you. I've still no idea what happened to it!! I was only doing was a quick render, I turned away for a minute and when I looked back it had gone and I was looking at the desktop! Anyway, mild-panic over!!

Cheers,

Pete.

(*I'm not sure it helped but I felt better!!)

Next time (hope there isn't a next time, right?) you can try playing with the Screen Resolution in the Display Properties.

Hi Peter,

Are you using nView? If not you should be with dual screens. If you are, goto nView Desktop Manager and under the Windows tab, tick the box "prevent windows from opening off-screen". Hope this helps.

Good tip Brett, I didn't even realise that menu was there. Thanks for pointing it out!

You wouldn't have thought monitors were so complicated to control.

There is QuadroFX software that comes with the graphics card, the Nvidia Nview software, and also the Perfectsuite software that came with the monitors. They all seem to do pretty much the same thing but in slightly different ways!!
