Thanks for the replies...
But i should have said that i want to do it in a polyroof.
In this kind of roof, the subtract options, etc, do not appear...only some.
In the first two types, i have no problem...only in this one. Otherwise i will have to draw it in lines, and then make 6 or 7 different roofs.
Thanks

<T>Hi everyone.
Just a simple roof question...
How do i make a hole in the middle of a roof? (for example, for a interior/exterior garden in the house)
Thanks a lot</T>

It's pretty simple, but kind of confusing at the same time.

1) Select the roof tool on your Tool box
2) Select the roof you want to cut a hole in
3) Click inside the roof to start drawing the hole inside the roof.

Or in the Arrow tool, click on the edge of the roof and choose the Subtract from Polygon pet pelette option and minus any area you like based on the current geometry selected in the Info Box.

Cheers,
Actually Link's method is probably better since it allows you to draw a hole that extends beyond the original element's shape without getting an error message.

You probably having grouping enabled. Hit Alt+G (to suspend grouping) and then see what the pet palette offers you. Either way, there is still no way to put holes into multiple roofs at the same time. You need to subtract from each piece of roof individually.
You can make any hole in any roof or group of roofs by SolidElement operations. Build some slab in a form of hole you want to have, plase this slab in the place where your hole must be, in 3d mode deselect all and use SolidElement operations in Edit menu in AC9 and in Design menu in AC10. There are 3 buttons
1. select your rooof, or group, and push ...Target...
2. select your slab, and push ...Opearator...
3....Execute...

Then place your slab in non needable layer and hide this layer in Layer settings.

An SEO will get the hole in the roof alright, but I dare say the lack of floor plan display would probably be the undoing of this method.
Roof dormer intersection

Any way to cut the dormer roof in the main body of the roof so that it shows up correctly in the roof plan display. It works great if you SEO the dormer roof, but doesn't show up correctly in roof plan. Tried the click/cut way to do it but get screwy results. ("roof intersection" from the help menu). Trying not to do it the Autocad way......transfer lines from the section, etc. What's the secret here?

You should be able to use the same method (subtract from the pet palette), and you can even use your magic wand to trace the dormer parts. What screwy results are you getting?

Cheers,
