I'm getting a 30-second hang whenever I
• Switch from another app to AC,

• Let the screen (not the machine) go to sleep, and then wake it up,

I'm not sure how much of this has to do with our server .. it was there in v9 for us but nowhere near as bad as this. Copy/Paste is the main cause but we do get the other symptoms you mentioned (except the screen sleep one .. mines on a v long timer).

I have my details in an external file. As soon as I update and look back (after a few min) it wants to re-update the same details. I think updating was better before.

The fix is in the US technical resources, article 1068. It talks about 9, but 10 is the same.
If I'm wrong, I'll be posting the pink-faced guy, followed by the angry guy, in a few minutes.
But listen, if you are an all-Mac network, run this fix on general principles. It (the DCPMF) has been implicated in many quirky intermittent issues. (Such as 'Connection Failed but not really yada yada...')

Geoff wrote:
prevent ArchiCAD from opening or sharing files with the windows version?

I'm pretty sure it has no effect on the cross-platform capability of the file itself. It's a preferences mod, which shouldn't affect the file.

I think it has to do with looking up networked stuff on Windows servers. Something that AC is doing 'on behalf' of the file, not something the file is doing, not something AC is doing to the file. I think.

...aha: Record 1003:

Q:Was getting Connection to server failed messages, so I edited my plist files to DisableCrossPlatformMountingFeatures. But we're in a mixed platform office using both MAC & PC.

How will this edit affect my ability to open projects from both platforms?

A: The only problem that can arise is when a file on the server is accessed once from a PC and then from a MAC and so vice versa, because the locations are saved in the file in only one format(MAC or Windows). Even in this situation however, the only problem that can occur is this:

- If during the file access AC cannot mount any additional locations then the user should mount these manually in the finder.

My take: No effect, except that AC won't be able to mount a Windows volume <S></S>on its own<E></E>. You would have to mount it yourself in the Finder.

IMO I could manage mounting my own servers, in exchange for AC not going catatonic whenever it thinks about libraries.

I would expect you could just as easily flip it back to <false/> if need be.

This 'feature' looks like a solution in search of a problem, and it's well documented to cause plenty of problems by itself. Disabled it will stay, though I'd like to hear other views.

I agree completely. I take my PowerBook home and ArchiCAD tries to mount the office file server. At least it gives up quicker now. With AC8 I had to force quit
