This may or may not be a solution for you but it works for me...How about creating PDF's and printing somewhere like Kinkos or Office Maxx? It's quick easy and inexpensive.

I don't know what size your drawings are but maybe you could submitt a 1/2 size set formatted to fit 11x17

I personally do most all of my work with 11x17 format PDF's...If I need a full size I can print it twice as big.
Dan, will the scale be right?

I just dont want it to fit to the page.

It depends on how you set up your viewsets and how you place them in Plotmaker. I save my plan viewsets as 1/4" in ArchiCAD but place them at 1/8" in Plotmaker. (you'll hear many different opinions about this "scale" approach but it perfectly works for me.) I try to do everything on 11x17 format...its pretty easy because the majority of my work is under 4000 sq ft residential.

The only thing you really need to keep in mind is how much paper real estate you have to work with. 11x17 minus 1/2" margins leaves you with about 10 by 16 inches of drawing area. I do all my work at 1/8" scale so this gives me roughly 10x8 or 80 feet vertically & 16x8 or 128 feet horizontally to fit my plan on a page (obviously some of the horizontal width needs to accomodate my title block.)

If I ever need full size or 1/4" drawings, I just print at 200% on a 24x36 sheet.

HTH,
Unfortunately, I can't post my client's projects or distribute the cad files per contractual agreement. I'm not sure it would show you anymore than I've already described. Is there something more I can explain to clarify the technique/format for you?
Maybe late as it is Monday ...

Save your layout book with all the files included, burn it on CD/save it on the USB drive, take your ArchiCAD installation CD, go to your friend's place, install PlotMaker, print.

Bring some bottles to be emptied while prinitng ... usually the prints come out better <E>😉</E>

hi Cole_Construction,

first i would recommend the way, djordje described: more fun (with the bottles) and less brain usage necessary <E>😉</E>

another way (in my opinion the best) is to use plt files. I dont know, if the printer you mentioned, is able to plot plt files, but most profecional plotters are.
the plot files are created with plotmaker and then only be sent to the plotter (no driver program or plotmaker or cad program is necessary). to send it to the plotter you can use command line or (easier) plotflow or another simple tool like this.
the advantage of plot files is their small size and the full scale print out.

But if you want to use pdf, you can also get a full scale print out:
- make sure, that the size of paper is same size or bigger than the size used in the pdf
- in printing settings you can see the scale: if it is not 100%, but near, change the setting "fit to papersize" to "no scaling" (or how it is called...)

best regards, gerd

Guys-

sounds like Cole is plotting to a printer instead of printing. Is he using PlotMaker or Archicad? if Archicad, sounds like he is printing the entire doc, not the screen view (to a scale) which would result in a tiny image, especially if there are artifacts floating beyond the "title block".
