When you sign into a Teamwork job, you have the option of saving a "satellite copy" of your libraries.

You can only send & receive when you are connected to the network, either via VPN or in person.

Sure - Idaho, USA and Auckland, New Zealand, but of course distance doesn't matter. You could share a project between Timbiktu and Easter Isalnd - as long as they both had internet access.

You can simply email zipped up Teamwork Draft Archives (.pca's) - that's what they're there for!

Cheers,

I posted this subject in "Working with Archicad”…it’s gets the most traffic and I wanted to see how other firms split up there files and go about working in a telecommute environment…. I guess I will continue here……

if you telecommute how do you have a manager look over their employees work during the day

is there a way to look over the files live…..

when you access a project is better to cache the library on your home computer or to pull off your server….

Anyway more question to come…would like some more detailed feed back…I think it’s great that works but I need to present the how instead of the wows

Architime can measure "time of work". But it is for me a strange way to telecommute… Confidence is necessary.. to work at distance.
You can divert this tool, it does not measure quality of work…

I don't use them nor even imagines to use it…
May also you can buy the rule book and "Also included will be a mouse driver for delivering high-voltage shocks to people who do not comply" of Tom Waltz®.

If Architime interest you look at this subjects :
When I travel to Glasgow I still do work for my office in Detroit, MI... Before I leave I archive whatever Projects I'm currently working on, and take them with me, then I do the work and publish to an online PDF database that is hosted by a third party web hosting company. I'm the only one in my office who does work in ArchiCAD, so my bosses can just look at the PDFs, make notes, and email them back to me so I can make the appropriate changes in ArchiCAD. When they need to print something they can just make a print from Acrobat Reader... it works out pretty well, and I havent come across any major stumbling blocks yet.
The server that we are using is an Apple X Serve.

I am able to go to the Library Manager and select my satellite library only AFTER the original 2 hour upload from the remote server.
I would like to set it up so that no matter who has opened the file from the server, my machine will choose my local library first. - Laurie

Make a client file and open it locally. When you sign in you get the option to select a satellite library. If not turn off your connection first and then you can open you file and load your local library. Then reopen your connection.

If you are trying to connect by directly teamwork , I believe that will be a struggle as each send and receive takes a long while (although I havnt tried it for a couple of versions).

Dear John,

Thank you. This seems like it should work. Perhaps we are having difficulties because our libraries do not match exactly.

Originally we were attempting to use teamwork. We gave up on that and are now just using solo projects. The highest level of success has been achieved through mailing zipped .pla files that have been archived with their parts.

I should be able to open files from the server using MY library. Server files always load the library from the server first, even after I work on my files that use my library. We must have different libraries. I'll let you know how this turns out. - Laurie
