I've been using my laptop WUXGA+ (1920x1200) since I started, and I am finding that anything smaller simply shrinks the menus I'm used to seeing to something that takes more time and energy than a glance...

Two monitors is a really nice solution. With two you can have a 3d window open and your plans and editing open as well. Three monitors and you can have your editing and schedules and menus on the left, your plans in the middle, and your 3d and rendering on the right.

With the prices of monitors and gear shrinking all the time, one can get a very nice productive work rig...

HOWEVER
Getting work in the current economy will be the real challenge, eh?

<R>This is a quick survey to see what ArchiCAD users around the world set their screen resolutions to when using ArchiCAD. Please take a moment to respond.

<S></S>To find the screen resolution of your PC: Right click on your desktop and select Properties. Then go to the Settings tab and read the number under Screen resolution.

To find the screen resolution of your Mac: Go to Apple Menu>System Preferences...>Displays and read the highlighted screen resolution.

<E></E>
If you use a resolution that is not listed, please feel free to specify it in a post. If you use multiple monitors, please feel free to add those too.

Thanks for your time!

Cheers,
Dell 24" in the office at 1920 x 1200 and when on laptop 17" at 1600 x 1200. I wouldn't go back to regular work on less than 24" as the extra space is perfect for all the menus. I think at the distance I work from the screen (optimized to the focal length of my computer glasses) a 30" would give too much side to side wiplash.

How about with 3 Monitors?
my primary display is a 17" MBP - 1650x1050 - which is i think is on the bottom line for working with archicad. i'm currently 'evaluating' a mac pro with 30" cinema screen (2560x1600) which is - dare i say it? - <S></S>too<E></E> big! there's too much screen to look at all at once: because you naturally work with the <S></S>whole<E></E> screen regardless of the different apps/windows that are open. i think if i get to keep it i'll either develop an RSI in my neck or have to sit on the other side of the room with binoculars!

i think the optimal set-up would be two 23"/24" side-by-side: there's enough screen-estate to hold all apps/windows but would allow concentration on one screen at a time for working . . .
2560 x 1024, split into two screens.

I for one would not dream on working with AC with only one screen.
Ah, and never put them side by side. One should be in front of you (plan window) and the other should be the sidekick.
Otherwise, you will work with your head rotated slightly to one side.
Major neck damage, after half a dozen years.
