Thanks for the quick reply much appreciated. I read that in the user guide and changed the materials in both the profile editor and the actual object properties but it doesn't seem to change. Any further thoughts?

custom door panel / profiles

<T>I have drawn out the door panel using slabs with a main plain white panel which has a spiral cut into it acting as a vision panel and a stainless steel frame around the edge. Saved it as a custom door panel but my doors won't use it. Any thoughts? Also I can't change the materials of columns or beams that use a complex profile. Any help would be much appreciated.</T>

The door has to be scripted to use the custom panel. This usually means typing the name of the custom panel into a parameter of the door.
Materials of profiled walls, columns and beams are set in the profile editor. They may be applied to each fill as a whole or each edge individually. Use the strange little "c" shaped icon at the upper right of the pet palette.
