Element (Component, Zone) List vs. Interactive Schedule

Hi,
Could some one explain the advantage of Element (Component, Zone) List over Interactive Schedule. Interactive Schedule is easy to learn and implement were as Element (Component, Zone) List has not much documentation and appears very confusing.

The IS is a very big improvement over the old Calculate function as far as ease of use and interactivity. The Calculate function, if somewhat mastered, is a very powerful tool and can do much more than the IS. I use Calculate to do a lot of quick down and dirty take-offs and quantities, and I also use the IS for schedules and other documentation. For most architects/builders the IS is all you really need to produce the data required.

Well, yes and no. 😉 IS has much more sophisticated filtering capabilities, but list schemes can produce reports that IS cannot. As you say, IS is all that most people in the US need. Folks in Europe and elsewhere who must do quantity surveys (takeoffs) as part of their job still need the list schemes, property scripts, etc.
